BMW M2
The BMW M2 is a high-performance version of the BMW 2 Series designed by BMW’s motorsport subsidiary, BMW M GmbH. This subcompact executive sport coupe has two doors and a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration. The M2 Coupé stands out for its dynamic and unique appearance, which is accentuated by a variety of fresh color choices. At its heart is a strong 3.0-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine that produces 473 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. With a 6-speed manual transmission, the M2 sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, demonstrating BMW’s commitment to performance and driving enjoyment.
BMW M2 ORIGIN
The BMW M2 (model code G87) is a high-performance vehicle that has been in production since 2016 and is part of BMW’s 2 Series portfolio. Jose Casas designed the vehicle, which is built at BMW Group’s plant in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. This sporty 2-door coupe is based on the BMW 2 Series (G42) platform, combining M division performance elements with the 2 Series’ compact, executive design.
BMW M2 GENERATIONS
FIRST GENERATION
The first-generation BMW M2, known as the BMW M2 Competition, was built from 2016 until 2021 under the model code F87. It was built at the BMW Group Plant in Leipzig, Germany, and designed by Hussein Al-Attar. This vehicle shared a platform with the BMW 2 Series (F22).
SECOND GENERATION
The second-generation BMW M2, with the model number G87, has been in production since 2023 and will be available in model years beginning with 2023. Jose Casas created the M2 generation, which is assembled in BMW Group’s Planta San Luis Potosí in Mexico. It is based on the same platform as the BMW 2 Series (G42), combining high-performance engineering with the unmistakable, sporty styling of BMW’s M division.

The 2025 M2 comes in four “BMW Individual” paint colors: Java Green Metallic, Voodoo Blue, Grigio Telesto, Pearl Effect Metallic, and Twilight Purple, Pearl Effect Metallic.
Cargo Capacity: The 2025 BMW M2 Coupe has a load capacity of up to 13.8 cubic feet. Rear foldable seats provide extra storage space when needed.
Comfort Access: allows you to lock and unlock your BMW without taking your key out of your pocket.
My BMW App: You can monitor your BMW’s status (tire pressure and fuel) and simply identify sites of interest. You can also use your app to start the engine and heat or cool the cabin using the Remote Engine Start feature, which is available on the M2 Coupe with the optional 8-speed M Sport Automatic Transmission.
Connectivity and Infotainment: The BMW M2 provides Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, enabling drivers to stay connected while on the go. It features USB audio, hands-free Bluetooth® wireless technology with audio streaming, and the Connected Package Professional, which includes Real-Time Traffic Information, On-Street Parking Information (in select cities), BMW Connected Music, weather updates, Connected Navigation, and Hazard Preview. BMW M2 SAFETY
The BMW M2 includes an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Head Protection System (HPS) for both front and rear seats.
The M2 has advanced dual-stage front airbags, seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and knee airbags for the driver and front passenger.
The front safety belts have automatic pretensioners, and the Passenger Airbag Off indicator improves passenger safety.
The M2 includes LATCH attachments and Automatic-Locking Retractors (ALR) to ensure secure child seat installation.
Driving Assistant Features: Forward Collision Mitigation, Active Blind Spot Detection, Lane Keeping Assistance, Speed Limit Info, and Cross Traffic Warning at the rear. Central locking system with 2-step unlocking, impact sensors, and an anti-theft alarm.
