FORD EXPEDITION

The Ford Expedition is a 10-speed automatic twin-turbocharged 3.5 litre V6 engine, three-row SUV manufactured by Ford since 1997. It has a spacious interior, comfortable seating, and an easy-to-drive nature. The Expedition is available in the following colors: Wild Green, Agate Black Metallic, Oxford White, Jewel Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Stone Blue Metallic, Iconic Silver Metallic, Star White Metallic Tri-Coat, and Dark Matter Metallic.

FORD EXPEDITION ORIGIN

The Ford Expedition derives from the Ford F-150. Before 2009, Ford assembled the Expedition at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan.After 2009, Expedition production relocated to Kentucky Truck Assembly in Louisville, Kentucky.

FORD EXPEDITION GENERATIONS

FIRST GENERATION

Ford internally recognized it as the UN93. They built the first-generation Expedition under the UN93 program from 1993 to 1996. They introduced the all-new full-size SUV on May 9, 1996, and formally launched it on October 2, 1996, as a 1997 model.It replaced the old two-door Ford Bronco, with the XLT being the base model. Chief designer Bob Aikins designed the Expedition, which included optional three-row seating. The first generation Expedition was classified as a low-emission vehicle.

SECOND GENERATION

The new Expedition, developed under the U222 program from 1996 to 2002 with Steve von Foerster as chief vehicle engineer and John Krafcik as chief program engineer (1998-2002), made its debut at the 2002 North American International Auto Show and went on sale in May 2002 for the 2003 model year. It had four-wheel independent long-travel suspension, making it the first full-size SUV with completely independent suspension.

THIRD GENERATION

Ford introduced the third-generation Expedition in 2006, as part of the U324 program. It included primarily mechanical changes, a revamped sheet metal design, a renovated interior with enhanced materials, and a new long-wheelbase model.

FOURTH GENERATION

The fourth-generation Expedition, internally known as the U553, was announced on February 7, 2017, at the Dallas Cowboys’ training facility, ahead of its premiere at the Chicago Auto Show. Production started on September 25, 2017. It has a maximum towing capability of 9,300 pounds and includes Pro Trailer Backup Assist, which allows for semi-autonomous reversing with a trailer. A 360-degree camera, park assist, and optional safety technologies such as automatic braking, lane-keeping aid, active cruise control, and blind-spot monitors are also available.

FIFTH GENERATION

The fifth-generation Ford Expedition debuted on October 3, 2024. It can tow 7,000 pounds as usual, and up to 9,600 pounds with a weight-distributing hitch.
