TOYOTA 4RUNNER GENERATIONS
FIRST GENERATION (N60, 1983)
The first generation of the Toyota 4Runner is a modified version of the Hilux to feature a short-bed pickup body. They removed the panel with the integrated rear window behind the front seats and added rear seats, a roll bar, and a removable fiberglass canopy. All first-generation 4Runners had two doors and were virtually identical to pickups from the dashboard onward.

Models were based on the Hilux pickup. The 4Runners had a newly designed, full-steel integrated body mounted on the existing frame. However, from the B-pillars forward, the 4Runner’s appearance was virtually identical to that of the Hilux, as was its powertrain.
THIRD GENERATION (N180; 1995)
This generation 4Runner distinguished itself by retaining its rugged off-road character, sharing many components, including the engine and transmission, with the new Tacoma while using the Land Cruiser Prado chassis.
FOURTH GENERATION (N210; 2002)
